“ebay Landscape” is a online environment built using some data coming in real time from the Internet.
“eBay Landscape” takes the form of a simple moon like Japanese landscape. It wants to be almost dull in its aesthetics so that people get a bigger surprise when discover the ever changing layers.
Mountains are dynamically generated grabbing eBay.com stock markets charts; images filling the bamboo trees are cut from CNN.com home page, while the number of stars and the color of the sky (only in the online version) depend on the number of users (and their IP addresses) visiting the project in that moment.
While the shape of the mountains changes every day (when the NASDAQ closes), the content of the bamboo changes as many times as CNN.com updates its website.
In this piece there isn’t click interaction but what I call OFF-KEYBOARD interaction that comes from our private and social behaviors that, once transformed into texts, images or statistics, influence and determine the content and the shape of the work.
